Parental Letter – Tuesday 2nd June 2020

Dear Parents / Carers

Yet another half term starts and we are still not all back in schooltogether. We continue to reach out to all our children and families through the weekly phone calls and respond to the class emails. Thank you to all the children who have sent their postcards back it has been lovely to hear what the children have been up to.

Following the announcement late last week, Rochdale Council has said schools will not open for more pupils until the 15th June at the earliest. It is currently our plan to invite Year 6 in on the 15th June and hopefullyYear 1 the week after, however, this may change. We will keep you informed and provide notice when children in set year groups are able to return.

To support social distancing in school;we have set up our classrooms with only 10 desks in each room, provided markings on the playground to help separate the children and have prepared areas for parents to wait in when dropping off and collecting children. Other more detailed measures will be outlined as the yeargroups begin to return.

We do NOT expect children to wear uniform in school before September. However, children will need to ensure they have suitable footwear for playing outside (trainers are best) and they must be able to manage their own shoelaces, if worn. If it is hot, please send your child with sun cream on and a hat. Children should have their shoulders covered, no vest tops or summer dresses with straps to avoid sunburn. We have seen an increase in the number of children in the vulnerable and key worker children groups attending school; to support this we have made the following arrangements-

From Monday 8thJune

  • Key Worker children and vulnerablechildren should be in school every day. The government advice now states that if they are entitled to attend they should attend;this is a change from the previous advice.
  • Set start and finish times. We ask that Key Worker and Vulnerable Children arrive at 8.30amand are collected at 3.30pmfrom the playground. PLEASE DO NOT BE LATE.
  • Hot Meals –the week of the 8thJune may be the last week hot meals are served but these must be paid forunless your child is on Free School Meals or Universal Infant Free School Meals. Please arrange a bank transfer or send the money in with your child in a sealed envelope.
  • The School Office –We will not be allowing parents into the main entrance unless they havebooked a meeting. We will be encouraging all parents to contact school via phone or email for the vast majority of contact.

Stay Safe,

Mr R Walthall
