The core subjects of English, Maths and Science are taught in school along with the National Curriculum subjects of History, Geography, Computing, Art, Design Technology, Music, PE, PSHCE and RE.

Staff carefully plan interesting lessons enabling all pupils to effectively take part, utilising ICT and the whole school environment, whilst monitoring progress throughout the year.

We plan and deliver whole-school projects differentiated as appropriate to the age of our pupils.

We want to instill a love of reading and reading for pleasure in all of our pupils.

At Stansfield Hall we follow ‘Read, Write Inc’ phonics programme. Home/school reading books are linked to children's phonic knowledge and are supplemented with a range of books from the class and school library.

Children in years 2 and above start to use Accelerated Reader and, following assessment, have books based on their ZPD (Zone of Proximal Development). These books include a wide range of popular children's books.

In Guided Reading pupils use a variety of texts and genres, including the ‘Project X’ scheme.

We value reading and award books as prizes and most years Father Christmas visits all children with a gift of a book.

Our curriculum is built around White Rose Maths to ensure firm foundations and to sequence our learning. We follow the Mastery approach to the curriculum to develop children's knowledge and understanding of mathematical concepts throughout the school.

If you have any questions around any area of the curriculum please contact school so that we can provide more details. Every term we have themed coffee mornings like 'Book and a Brew' or 'Counting on Coffee' please come and join your child / children at them.

Detailed curriculum plans for the current and next 2 school years can be found below.
