School Newsletter – Friday 24th June 2016

Dear Parents / Carers,

Yesterday’s voting day walk to Hollingworth Lake was a huge success and although quite warm on the way back the children had enjoyed their drink and snack as well as playing together in the play park before their return.

Non uniform day

A reminder that on Monday, 27th of June we will hold a “Green Day” and asking all children and staff to dress in green as part of our environmental work we are studying.

Outstanding Gulliver’s World trip money must be paid by the end of next week.

Please return the slips from the Student Support Company as all slips returned generate income for the school.  This scheme is part of fundraising which helps to subsidise your children’s school trips etc.

Elm and Birch Class production of Little Red Riding Hood will be at 2pm and 6.30pm on Monday, the 4thJuly, the children will need to return to school at 6pm so they have time to get changed into costume.

Tickets will be on sale next week.

On Monday, 27th June many high schools are holding induction evenings for Year 6 children and their parents.

Tuesday, 28th June sees the start of the induction days for Year 6 as the children prepare for High School (some high schools have two days some only one).  In the afternoon of Tuesday 28th June we will be preparing our pupils for the next stage in their school career as they spend time in their new classes with their new class teacher.  On the same afternoon, our new reception children and their parents will come into school to meet the staff and receive important new information about the school.

Thank you

Please check your child’s bag tonight as there are several flyers for up and coming events.  Including a letter from The Student Support Centre, please could you return the slips even if you are declining the offer as the school receives commission for every form returned.

Dear Parents / Carers,

Cannon Maurice Smith (Director of Education, Diocese of Manchester) visited school this morning as part of his Pilgrimage around the diocese visiting all the Church of England schools.  He was very impressed with the warm welcome he received from the children and staff and enjoyed his time at Stansfield Hall.

Please ensure any outstanding balances for the Gulliver’s World trip are paid ASAP.

The PFA meeting on Monday was poorly attended but we have decided to press ahead with plans for the Primary Prom on Friday, 8th July.  Invites for the children (and parents) will be issued nearer the time but this is a whole school party that is free for the children with a licenced bar for parents downstairs.  We hope to see as many children and families attending the event as possible as this is our chance to say good bye to our Year 6 pupils in style.

On Thursday 23rd June the nation will be voting on the EU referendum, we will have having a whole school morning walk to Hollingworth Lake and returning 012to school for a picnic lunch.  Please ensure your child has suitable footwear for the walk and a rain coat / suncream and hat appropriate to the weather (both may well be needed with the recent extremes in the weather).

Thank you

School Newsletter – Friday 10th June 2016

Dear Parents / Carers,

Todays’ picnic to celebrate the Queen’s 90th Birthday was held in the school hall due to the weather and finished with everyone singing the National Anthem and Happy Birthday.  The children have brought home a medal from the PFA commemorating the Queen’s birthday to keep as a memento of the day.

Gulliver’s World trip balance is now due.

We launched our new topic of “Earth Matters” on Monday where the children all spent time with ‘Zoo Lab’ talking about our environment and handling a range of animals including a snake, millipede and a frog.  Topic plans have been sent home tonight.  On Monday 27th of June we will hold a “Green Day” and asking all children and staff to dress in green as part of our environmental work we are studying.

We have had to change some of the dates of the summer production for upper school to fit in with the high school drop in session.  The production will now be on the afternoon and evening of Monday the 4th July.

Letters have gone out to parents about the new intake meeting for September 2016 on the 28th June.

There will be a PFA meeting on Monday 13th June to plan the Primary Prom and any other fundraising ideas for future years, the PFA felt they did not have capacity to run the summer fair this year but would hate to lose our more popular events of Halloween Disco and Primary Prom next year.

Thank you
