School Newsletter – Friday 22nd April 2016

Dear Parents / Carers,

Maple and Sycamore class enjoyed a walk to Littleborough Library on Monday and returned to school with even more enthusiasm about reading and books, please continue to support your child’s love of reading and support your local library.

The children in Year 4 and 5 continue to go swimming every Tuesday morning, please make sure your child is in school on time and with their kit.  There are still a few children who have not paid their transport contribution.  Please send into school without delay.

As news breaks about the exact details of SATS and government plans seem to change weekly we are assured that the basic principles will not chance and the dates are to remain the same – Year 6 pupils week beginning Monday 9th May and the Year 2 tests take place throughout May.  The phonics tests for all Year 1 and some Year 2 children take place in the week of the 13th of June and all pupils will continue to complete important half termly assessments in school.

Some parents have expressed concern about the attendance letters sent out last week.  Please return your slip to acknowledge you have received your letter.  This was an initial letter to raise awareness to parents to show just how much learning has been missed if attendance drops below 95%.  It is difficult to ‘catch up’ missed work and so good attendance is very important.  If your child is struggling with health issues we may be able to support with the help of school health so please ask to speak to myself or Miss Williams if you think we may be able to help in any way.

Thank you
