School Newsletter – Thursday 24th March 2016

Dear Parents / Carers,

Shocking news this morning as we returned to school after a late night to find our Lowry painting has been returned.  A note attached says it was “borrowed” and that it isn’t a real Lowry painting BUT a copy and worthless!!!!  We still appreciate our copy of the original painting but are happy we do not have to claim on our insurance.  Which member of staff actually “borrowed” this painting still remains a mystery although the children still have their suspicions.

It was lovely to see so many people at the Easter Egg Bingo last night it was an ‘eggcellent evening’ where everyone had a ‘cracking’ time.  Thank you to all who helped donated eggs and supported the event.

The Easter plate competition has been judged by one of the governors and a child from each class awarded a prize alongside 2 bonus prizes.  Well done to all the winners and everyone who entered with some imaginative and creative designs.  Faith, Aila, Charlie B, Tia, Dylan D, Evie and Liam received their prizes in assembly today.

We continue to update our school Facebook page with photos and information so please keep an eye out for the latest curriculum news and updates there.

Swimming lessons start after Easter for children in years 4 and 5.  Please check your child’s reading bag / your email for their letter.

School closed today for the Easter Break.  School reopens on Monday 11th April.

On behalf of the Governors and Staff I wish all our families a happy and safe Easter break

Thank you

PFA News – Friday 11th March 2016

Dear Parents and Friends.

The PFA met earlier this week to make arrangements for Easter Bingo. Only 4 members attended the meeting (all staff); so once again this year we are asking families and any local businesses to donate the Easter Eggs, please! It would be helpful if all donations could be in school by Friday 18th March.

Easter Bingo – Wednesday 23rd March

This is a fun event for all ages, friends, sisters, brothers, parents, grandparents, Aunties and Uncles, etc., are all welcome.

If you are able to help us on the evening by selling refreshments or Bingo tickets please see Miss Black in the office.

Please support the P.F.A by donating and attending this great family event.  Doors will open at 6:15, Eyes down at 6:30.

Easter Plate Competition

Paper plates have been sent home today.  The children may decorate them however they wish.  This can be using an Easter theme or this term’s school topic of Spy Kids; it’s up to your child.

Please return the decorated plates with your child’s name and class written on the back by Monday 21th March. Judging will take place during the last week of term.

Thank you

School Newsletter – Friday 11th March 2016

Dear Parents / Carers,

A reminder that on Wednesday 16th March we will be hosting our Easter Assembly for parents.  The children will perform songs and the PFA will be serving refreshments.  Following this assembly there will be a short presentation about the school’s behaviour policy and the work the children have been doing around diversity and celebrating difference.

The PFA (Parents and Friends Association) meeting held this week was very poorly attended but thanks to the hard work of a few people the Easter Egg Bingo should be able to go ahead as planned on Wednesday 23rd March.

The school council have decided that on Friday 18th March we will have a non-uniform day for Sport Relief.  They are asking the children to dress in sportswear (tracksuits etc.) and bring in a donation of £1 for Sport Relief.

Children going on the Kingswood trip on Friday 18th March need to bring their bags to school in the morning and wear the clothes they will be travelling to Kingswood in.  We are expecting to be back between 3.00 and 3.30pm.  Please check the school Facebook page on Sunday afternoon for a more accurate time.

The PFA lottery draw winners are E. Lord no.69, T. Doney no.73 and R. Walthall no.33.  A separate PFA newsletter has been sent out today.

Thank you

School Newsletter – Friday 4th March 2016

Dear Parents / Carers,

It was lovely to see so many parents in school last night at Parents’ evening. If you were unable to attend please ensure that you make an appointment to see your child’s class teacher.

To help celebrate world book day this week the children enjoyed a production of Wind in the Willows from Story Magic theatre.

On Monday, 7th March at 3.30pm there is a short but important meeting for the parents of children attending the Kingswood residential trip.  Information and forms will be handed out, some of which must be returned so that your child can attend the trip.

On Tuesday, 8th March after school the team with the most team stars are invited to stay behind for a film night.  Invites have gone out tonight.

Easter Bingo will be held on Wednesday, 23 March, a great fun night for everyone, we need lots of Easter Eggs of all sizes to make the night a success.  Egg donations can be sent into school from Monday. Please be generous with your donations. There is a PFA meeting next Wednesday at 3.30pm to discuss the event.  All welcome at the meeting.

Parent and toddler group will not run in the first half of the summer term as we prepare for the new intake for September 2016. In the second half of the summer term we will be inviting the children who are due to start in September to join the parent and child sessions as part of their welcome to Stansfield Hall.

Thank you
