School Newsletter – Friday 11th December 2015

Dear Parents / Carers,

We are continuing our Posada with the children recording some adventures with the figures.

The children all enjoyed the trip to see Peter Pan this week at Hopwood Hall, Middleton Campus.

Please remember to return any Parent Governor nominations by 12 noon on Monday 14th December 2015.

Tickets are still on sale for the children’s performances for £1 each. Please buy your ticket in advance as we may not be able to sell tickets on the door this year if the hall is full.

Willow Class Monday 14th December 9.30am and 2pm Nativity

Sycamore and Maple Class Wednesday 16th December 9.30 and 2pm Nativity

Elm and Birch Class Tuesday 15th December 2pm and 6.30pm Space Christmas

On Tuesday 16th December Maple Class will be going to sing Christmas Carols and Songs at St. Andrew’s Methodist Church in Rochdale.

On Thursday 17th December at 9.30am the whole school will be walking up to St. James’ Church Calderbrook for a Carol Service led by Father Ian.

Friday 18th December is Christmas Party Day. Children may wear “party” clothes but remember it is still a school day and can be cold so children need to wear appropriate outfits for playing out over lunch time and sensible footwear for running in the playground. No jewellery (including ear rings) should be worn as per a normal Friday.

School closes on Friday 18th December at 3.20pm (there will be no after school club on the last day) and reopens on Monday 4th January at 8.45 am (Breakfast club from 7.15am)

Thank you

School Newsletter – Friday 4th December 2015

Dear Parents / Carers,

This week we started our preparations for Christmas, the Christmas Tree in the hall (Kindly donated by Fothergills) has been decorated and the children continue to rehearse for their Nativity and Christmas plays. This year we are also talking about Posada, from the Mexican tradition preparing for Jesus’ arrival. If your child brings home the book and figures of Mary, Joseph and the Donkey please welcome them into your home, look after them and return them to school with the book the next day. We are sharing our Posada books with St. John’s CE Primary School, Thornham just before the Christmas holidays and look forward to seeing theirs.

Thank you to the parents who were able to join Willow Class on Monday afternoon for the family maths puzzle afternoon. Yesterday the Year 5 children had a fantastic time at the Apple Store at the Trafford Centre using ‘imovie’ to make film trailers for The Tempest. Each child received a free Apple Tee Shirt and obviously we used this opportunity to enjoy looking at the Christmas decorations and Singing Christmas Tree at the Trafford Centre whilst we were there.

Dates for the term

On Tuesday (8th December) afternoon Willow, Maple and Sycamore Class will be going to Hopwood Hall, Middleton Campus to See a Performance of Peter Pan. Birch and Elm Class will be going on Wednesday afternoon. The school is paying for all costs associated with this trip and expects everyone to go. Will parents please check that their child does not have an appointment booked for these afternoons as the children will not be in school if you call in to collect without notification. We hope to be back at School by 4.00pm on both days.

Tickets are now on sale for the children’s performances for £1 each. Please buy your ticket in advance as we may not be able to sell tickets on the door this year if the hall is full.
